Merced County Voter Advisory Committees - Call for Applicants

The Secretary of State has established the Voter Accessibility Committee (VAAC) to advise, assist and provide recommendations on how to best implement federal and state laws regarding access to the electoral process for voters with disabilities. In addition, to the VAAC, it has also established the Language Accessibility Advisory Committee (LAAC) so that non-English speaking citizens, like all other citizens, should be encouraged to vote and that appropriate efforts should be made to minimize ob
 
The Secretary of State has established the Voter Accessibility Committee (VAAC) to advise, assist and provide recommendations on how to best implement federal and state laws regarding access to the electoral process for voters with disabilities. In addition, to the VAAC, it has also established the Language Accessibility Advisory Committee (LAAC) so that non-English speaking citizens, like all other citizens, should be encouraged to vote and that appropriate efforts should be made to minimize obstacles to voting by citizens who lack sufficient skill in English to vote without assistance. 

Applicants are being sought for both Committees. Please see the attached information for more information and application instructions. Applications are due by 5:00 P.M. on September 29, 2017. 

Merced County Elections has scheduled a public information meeting to provide anyone interested the opportunity to ask questions regarding these two committees. The meeting will be held:
