The Police Department currently has one officer assigned to the school resource program:
Officer J. Hamera
The school resource officer is responsible for handling crimes that occur on or about school campuses of all grade levels. There are 6 schools in the city of Gustine.  Officer Hamera usually responds to the needs of all the schools within the school district. 
Officer Hamera handles criminal investigations as well as crimes in progress.  He is a resource for school administrators and supervision personnel.  He can assist them in determining if and when a crime has been committed at school.
Officer Hamera also assist’s with teen intervention programs and truancy enforcement.
The school resource officer is also available for their peers at the police department due to the many contacts they have at the school.
