Mayor Rich Ford was elected to the Gustine City Council in 1986 and has been re-elected to the City Council for each subsequent term. In 2006, when Gustine converted to the elected Mayor form of governance, he became the City’s first elected Mayor. He has also been involved in the following activities for the City Council: Recreation Commission, Airport Commission, Infrastructure Committee, School Facilities Committee, Merced County Association of Government Governing Board, Revenue Sharing Agreement Committee, and Gustine Fire Department.
Since 1970 he has operated the Ford’s Farm Supply Company. He and his wife Lori have one daughter, MacKenzie. His hobbies include raising beef cattle and working in the family business.

Mayor Pro Tempore  Joe Oliveira was appointed to the City Council in 1999 and was elected to office in the year 2000. He was then re-elected to office in the year 2004 and 2008. He has been involved in the following activities for the City Council: Merced County Association of Governments Governing Board, One Voice Delegation to Washington D.C. and Sacramento, School District Facilities Committee, Merced LAFCO.
Council Member Oliveira was employed by PG & E for 38 years until his retirement. His hobbies include golf, hunting and playing poker. He is also past president of the Gustine Lion’s Club, past president of the Gustine High School Boosters Club, and president of the Gustine Alumni Association. He is a lifelong resident of Gustine. He and his wife Cheryl have one son, Jason, daughter-in-law Nancy, granddaughter Allyson, and grandson Anthony. |
Council Member PAT NAGY was appointed to the City Council in 2009. Prior to serving on the Council he was a member of the Traffic Safety Committee. He serves as the Ex-officio member of the Planning Commission and also serves on the Hwy 140 Pedestrian, Motorized Traffic Enhancement Committee. He is a past Govenor of the Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge 2150 and a past vice-president of the Gustine Redskin Athletic Boosters. Councilmember Nagy has been employed by Denair Lumber Co. since 2002, and has been in the lumber industry since 1981. He and his wife Gisele have five children and five grandchildren. His hobbies include playing the guitar, gardening, golf, and enjoying his grandchildren. |

 | Lynn Schultz was elected to the City Council in 2008. Prior to joining the Council, he served on the Airport Commission; was employed as the city's Public Works Director/Airport Manager and served on the city's Infrastructure Committee. | Councilmember Schultz is Gustine's representative to the League of California Cities (LOCC) and Merced County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDCO), along with the city's Infrastructure Committee. He also serves as Vice President of the Gustine Lions Club, is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Gustine Senior Citizen's Club. Councilmember Schultz and his wife, Patricia, have two children Tracy and Michael. Tracy lives in San Jose with her husband, Mickey, and children, Brandon and Mason. Michael lives in Manteca with his wife, Sue, and daughter, Samantha. Council member Schultz enjoys fishing, hunting, skiing and back-country horse activities. |
Council Member Bart Garcia was appointed to the City Council in 2001 and was elected to office in the year 2002. He was then re-elected to office in the year 2006. He has been involved in the following activities for the City Council: Planning Commission, Airport Commission, and Fire Department. He has been a volunteer fire fighter since 1994.
Council Member Garcia has been employed by Raley-Nob Hill Foods since 1995. He has worked in the food services industry since 1981. His hobbies include cooking, camping and traveling. He and his wife Cheryl have one son, Kacey. |

City Council
The City Council of Gustine serves as the legislative and policy branch of City government. Its purpose is to set overall policy direction for the City so as to improve the quality of life of the residents of the City. The City Council is comprised of five members, elected by the electorate in Gustine: Four City Council Members are elected for four year terms while the Mayor is elected for two year terms.
The City Council holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:30pm. Meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located at City Hall. Agendas may be accessed from the City website.
